Good News - depending on your perspective

 Dec 2 – Thursday

Well good news!!  We woke up to a beautiful sunny day AND the mouse is dead!
I got out of the shower and dressed and Rog came in with a silly look on his face and said “sorry Cinderella, I killed your mouse friend”.  I asked if he opened the suitcase and found it dead and he said no….i killed it…I asked how…he squashed it!!  He got up very early in the morning and stepped on it without even knowing he did it and I had seen it when I had gotten up but did not have my glasses on and I thought it was a leaf or something on his side of the bed.  So then I was so grossed out thinking he stepped on the mouse and then got back in bed…ewwww!  So when I put on my glasses and went to check it out , sure enough there it lay squished like a pancake. I don’t think he could have done that if he had tried.  What a hoot.

Siena Piaza
So we were off to a good start for the day.  We were determined to go to Pienza where we had seen a internet spot that was to be open between 9:30 and 12..thought we would have a quick stop there and then on to Sienna…well the place was open but NO that is not where the wifi is…please go down such and such a street to the tourist info place to get it.  Well I have to interject here that the tourist info offices are not our favorite places.  Although well marked in each town they tend to be closed (granted it is not tourist season here) and if they are open the person in them is usually on a computer playing games and barely glances up but will tell you there is no internet anywhere and really they are not open!  So we were not hopeful.  We found the place and noticed the door was cracked open so went in.  The man there gave us a wifi card that would work in church square.  Hmmm and by the way this office is not really open!  Of course it isn’t, we said.  But we went off to the church square hopeful.  By now it had started to rain.  A blustery cold front was coming thru so sitting in the church square outside was not to appealing.  We found a little covered spot and tried our card but it said the wifi was not working.  We hated to admit defeat at this point but decided to go on to Sienna and try there.  On the way there we saw a place where we could buy internet service for the remaining time we have here so we went for it.  It feels good to know we can go to a town and connect without spending time wandering around trying to find a “internet hot spot”.

Siena was a lot larger than we expected.  We parked and started to walk.  There is a university there so it was a  different atmosphere then most towns we have been in.  We happened upon Piazza de Campo, the main plaza area outside an enormous church.  It is beautiful.  We walked around quite a bit, had pizza for lunch, sat and caught up on interent , walked some more…and headed home.  We have wanted to try a little resteraunt in Pienza since we have been here and kept smelling it whenever we went by it so made that our stop on the way home.  Eating at 7 pm is such a stretch for me but the food was so worth it and we were home by 9 or so.  We plan to go back to Siena…there is just to much more to see that we did not feel we explored it enough….so much more to see!

  2. You're right--you couldn't plan a mouse killing like that if you tried! Continue to love reading about your adventures, but I am glad to know that South Carolina is not the only place where you can get bad service!
